The Legacy Prairie Garden at the Botanical Gardens

Not all plants require the help of insects or birds for pollination. Grasses, as well as many tree species such as pine, spruce, maple and oak trees depend on wind to transfer pollen from one flower to another. The tall grasses at the Legacy Prairie Garden, found directly beside the Butterfly Conservatory, demonstrate this type of wind-powered pollination.
